Advanced technology and high-quality products are showcased through a clear and functional design system. Both the name and logo symbol build on how white balance is measured – with the term kelvin and the degree symbol (°). Thus, the brand is used as a unit of measurement for precision and quality. The logo and symbol are designed for animation and movement, conceptually showing how the studio lights and color settings affect both the surroundings and subjects.
The color palette is distinct, clear, and warm, yet also restrained and understated. The same applies to the typography, which is both timeless and technical in its expression. This has been important to create a clear premium expression in a category characterized by extensive use of colors and loud expressions, while also ensuring that the brand does not overshadow the creativity that the studio lights enable. This is particularly relevant for the products themselves and the website, where it has been crucial to show real and honest situations through the use of images.
Light Your Story
The Norwegian company Kelvin produces premium portable studio lights for film and studio productions. Behind Kelvin we find the award-winning LED technology company Rift Labs, which has been on the global market since 2010. All production of lamps takes place in Norway. Kelvin's unique technology needed a clear and intuitive approach to communicate all the possibilities of its products to professional players. By making light, shadow and space the central elements of the identity, a strong link was immediately created between the company's field of expertise and the products.
